What to expect at events
There will be something for everyone – events for individuals, families and those who are new to nature, to the more seasoned nature lover.
Wales Nature Week events are held each year at Wildlife Trust and RSPB reserves, local and national nature reserves, parks and community green spaces, schools and worship sites, beaches and coastal areas.
A typical event involves a guided walk at a nature site. An expert guide will point out plants and animals and the importance of the habitat and answer any questions you have. The vast majority of events are free*
*Entrance charge to a small selection of events may apply. This supports the valuable work the organisation carries out for nature.
Invited audience events
Language and our landscape – exploring the role of the Welsh language in nature connection
Thursday 10th July Invited audience event
There is a growing concern that people in the Western world are becoming disconnected from nature and the impact this is having on physical and mental health.
The Welsh language has been a central part of our culture for centuries. This session examines the role that language has to play in fostering a sense of place and stewardship of our environment.
This session will host speakers from Bannau Brycheiniog and Eryri National Parks, as well as branding company Creo, as we explore how language can help to reconnect us with the natural spaces and landscapes around us.
This is a joint Green Advocates and Ymlaen event to celebrate Wales Nature Week.
Celebration of Wales Nature Week in beautiful Heath Park, Cardiff
Tuesday 15th July Invited audience event
We’ll be exploring the Meadows Health & Well-being Route whilst enjoying time to chat and get to know our fellow advocates. The Meadows Health and Wellbeing Route was part of Magnificent Meadows Cymru, a programme to restore over 500 hectares of wildflower meadows in Wales and connect local communities to these natural spaces. The project created two walking routes connecting the University Hospital of Wales to the meadows at Heath Park and promoted the use of these for the well-being of patients and staff.
Wild Oysters project school visits
