Events in your area
As well as educating, nature-themed events bring people together, provide inspiration and contact with the outdoors and above all are fun!
Awareness-raising and education relating to biodiversity issues is an important role of all involved in the conservation and enhancement of biodiversity. Biodiversity is a global issue but local messages are far more likely to resonate with people. Local plants and animals provide a familiar and relevant connection and provide a sense of place.
Challenge yourself-get out and discover nature in your area!
A walk at Old Castle Down

A walk at Old Castle Down
10th and 11th July. Walks start at 11:00
Celebrate Wales Nature Week by joining Dot Williams in exploring Old Castle Down and learn more about Wales’s rarest butterfly, the High Brown Fritillary and the work being done to ensure it’s future through the Natur Am Byth Program. Explore the other amazing wildlife that calls Old Castle Down home.
Each walk will take around 2 hours. There is a short walk up a slope onto the Down and the ground is uneven in places so stout footwear is recommended, please bring water and a hat as there is little cover from the sun on the Down. As there are sometimes ticks on the Down long trousers are recommended.
