Throughout the various pages in this site, there are references to actual work carried out by scientists at CEH's eight research stations. Various topics are investigated in detail, but all have been written for schools. The Basic Topics pages are aimed at younger readers, or as an introduction to a topic for older readers. There are also worksheets provided for practical exercises, to help the younger user work through the subject. In the Advanced Topics pages the subjects are explored in greater detail, and contain more scientific terms.


 

National Grid Environmental Education Centres

National Grid has a network of environmental education centres across the UK, all sited on land owned by the company adjacent to substations. They are centres of excellence for environmental education and have been developed in partnership with local authorities and environmental charities, demonstrating how industry and the environment can co-exist to the benefit of all. They are primarily geared to provide outdoor education for school children from within their respective catchment area and offer imaginative activities designed to support key National Curriculum targets and informal education for other community groups


 

RSPCA Educational Resources

The RSPCA Education website has over 60 lesson plans for teachers to use in the classroom, on a wide variety of topics, including Pets, Habitats, Life Cycles and Animals and the Law. Linked to the Wales curriculum, they are aimed to support teaching largely in the areas of Science and PSE and lessons include downloadable PDF copies of any accompanying worksheets or teacher's notes in both English and Welsh. In addition, FREE packs of photos, which support the lessons, can be ordered. In some areas an Education Adviser is available to help teachers to develop a scheme of work and to deliver demonstration lessons where appropriate.
