Biodiversity Action
Directly and indirectly, human activity has led to massive declines in global biodiversity. The UK alone has lost over 100 species in the 20th century. Many more have declined in number and range. Without active conservation more species will disappear, and habitats will decline further. We have a very great responsibility to preserve what is a set of life support systems - both for the present time, and for future generations. Biodiversity action is about ensuring a future for species, and the habitats on which they depend.
Wales Biodiversity Framework
In Wales, the biodiversity framework sets out the roles and remits of who's involved in biodiversity action and lists the priorities and the delivery mechanisms for halting the loss of biodiversity.
