Snowdonia National Park is synonymous with extensive areas of windswept uplands and jagged peaks but also has a variety of inspiring natural and semi-natural habitats. Many of these, along with its species, are of international importance and are found nowhere else in the world.

A number of projects have come out of Snowdonia’s Local Biodiversity Action Plan (Bioamrywiaeth yn Eryri) addressing species conservation, habitat enhancement and awareness-raising, e.g. a newsletter for volunteers is produced every quarter, species surveys for green woodpecker and water voles have been carried out and several riparian habitat projects have been implemented.
