The Powys Local Biodiversity Action Plan is a vitally important tool in identifying opportunities to protect the county's wildlife in all its rich diversity, but it will only work with the involvement of landowners, politicians and other decision makers (Iolo Williams).
The plan is a working document, which will be regularly reviewed and new plans can be added when necessary. The review will include a biodiversity audit every five years and an annual progress report on actions achieved.

Within the Powys LBAP there are 16 Habitat Action Plans and Twenty-eight Species Action Plans. Various UK BAP Priority species include: Allis Shad, Twaite Shad, Skylark, Bittern, White-Clawed Crayfish, Nightjar, Woodlark, Great Crested Newt, Water Vole and Dormouse; to name but a few.
Within Powys many of the UK BAP Priority species and Species of Conservation Concern can be found.
The Powys Partnership comprises the following: Countryside Council for Wales , Radnorshire Wildlife Trust, Elan Valley Trust, Montgomery Wildlife Trust, Brecknock Wildlife Trust, Biodiversity Information Service. The Partnership has recently been awarded two grants, one New Opportunities Fund - Creative Conservation for £106,849, and Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund for the Pearl-bordered Fritillary Butterfly for £97,400.
